Student inventors and People of Determination in the UAE can now protect their inventions without paying registration fees for a range of industrial property services.
The new measure came into effect on September 14, 2026, following Cabinet Resolution No. 136 of 2026, announced by the Ministry of Economy and Tourism (MOET).

Under the resolution, eligible applicants will receive full fee exemptions for 29 industrial property services, including patent applications, industrial designs, utility certificates and other procedures related to protecting inventions.

The initiative aims to make innovation more accessible by reducing the financial burden on students and People of Determination, helping them protect their inventions, research projects and intellectual property rights.
