Jumeirah temporarily closed its flagship property, Burj Al Arab, in April 2026 for a major restoration programme. The work includes the hotel’s interiors, suites, restaurants and leisure spaces, while preserving the distinctive design and character that have made the property so recognisable.
The restoration is being carried out as a phased conservation programme following more than 25 years of continuous operation. Since opening in 1999, Burj Al Arab has remained the flagship hotel within the Jumeirah portfolio.
The closure has also temporarily removed all 198 suites from Jumeirah’s Dubai room inventory. Recent Jumeirah listings confirm that the sail-shaped hotel has 198 suites in total.
According to the latest public announcements, Burj Al Arab is expected to reopen in October 2027. However, no specific reopening date has been announced yet, and details on when reservations will become available after the restoration have not been confirmed.
