Dubai Municipality is introducing a new initiative to encourage salons across the city to improve their services, customer experience and sustainability practices.

The new ‘Model Salon’ initiative aims to go beyond basic health and safety requirements, recognising beauty businesses that maintain high standards and offer customers a better overall experience.

To qualify for Model Salon status, businesses must first achieve an ‘A’ rating in Dubai Municipality’s inspections, the highest rating available. They will then undergo additional assessments to determine whether they meet the requirements for the recognition.

The initiative focuses on three key areas: service quality, a safe and healthy environment, and sustainability.

Service quality will be assessed through staff training, professional development and certification to ensure employees have the skills needed to deliver high-quality services.

The second pillar focuses on maintaining a safe and healthy environment, with salons expected to provide appropriate facilities and meet the required standards for their services.

Sustainability is the third priority. Authorities will assess how salons use sustainable materials and introduce waste-recycling programmes as part of their daily operations.
Through this initiative, Dubai Municipality aims to encourage salons to go beyond compliance and adopt better practices that benefit customers, employees and the environment.
