Dubai is set to roll out a redesigned addressing system that will bring new street signs and house number plates to 186 areas across the city by 2030, authorities announced on Wednesday.
The first phase of the project will cover Za’abeel 1, Za’abeel 2, Nad Al Sheba, Al Khawaneej 1 and Nazwa. More than 2,000 new signs will be installed or replaced across these areas this year.

The new signs will feature five colours, each reflecting different aspects of Dubai’s geography. Blue will be used for areas close to the sea, while gold will represent desert areas.
As part of the new system, house number plates will include each property’s Makani number along with a QR code. Residents and visitors will be able to scan the code to access information about the area, the meaning behind street names and nearby attractions.

The new addressing identity will eventually be expanded beyond streets and buildings to include bus stops, smart applications and area map boards
