Abu Dhabi Mobility will cut the maximum speed on the E311 section from 120km/h to 100km/h in both directions. Motorists travelling through the affected corridor must follow the revised road signs and speed restrictions.
E311 limit drops by 20km/h
Abu Dhabi Mobility confirmed the 20km/h reduction as part of its latest traffic updates for the emirate.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Road forms a major highway corridor serving traffic between Abu Dhabi and the northern emirates. E311 continues into Dubai under the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road designation.
Affected traffic will face the same 100km/h maximum in both directions from September 14 2026. Drivers will need to adjust speeds immediately when entering the revised section.
Abu Dhabi Mobility has advised motorists to comply with posted limits and follow road signage across the corridor. Enforcement applies to the displayed maximum speed.
E311 has already changed to its speed controls. Abu Dhabi Mobility removed the road’s 120km/h minimum speed requirement in April 2025. That requirement had applied to the two left lanes on designated sections.
Removal of the minimum speed requirement supported smoother heavy vehicle movements and road safety, according to the authority.
